I don’t know what architectural period we could assign to these metal work roses set in a gate I passed yesterday. Interestingly, by their size and placement, I think these inserts compromise the security measure they seek to enhance. PS added friday may 6th: Hmmm, I have just realised that the red roses and green leaves in this gate remind me of some curtains in a house we bought years ago – pinch pleated, cream plastic, printed with a red roses and bright, strong green leaves, the curtains pulled back to the sides by a chain formed from ring pulls from beer cans, painted with gold paint. The interconnectedness of everything is so amazing.
