and also that since it\u00a0was integrated with the website a while back now (thanks<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0Gloria) it has enhanced it&#8217;s role as a running sidebar to my website as I&#8217;ve made regular additions to both, becoming more deeply linked <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">than when they were separate.\u00a0\u00a0 Blogs mean different things to different people &#8211; just last week someone emailed me to say\u00a0 what I wrote<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">that day was all very well but if I\u00a0added videos (colour and movement !)\u00a0 the post\u00a0would have been more entertaining !\u00a0 Well, she can<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">google around if she wants, but time is pressing and\u00a0I know many of my readers are very busy\u00a0and focused people, some with demanding creative lives of their own.\u00a0 If they&#8217;re anything like me they spend\u00a0too much\u00a0time in front of their screens and need to limit that \u00a0;-p\u00a0\u00a0This is\u00a0the only kind of journally thing\u00a0I keep &#8211; with the bonus that all of you can share it.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I periodically think\u00a0about my earlier work &#8211; and how it might not have had such a definite sort of cut off point,\u00a01987,\u00a0if we had not\u00a0 been suddenly moved from Kalgoorlie WA to Denver CO within 3 months of my solo exhibition &#8220;Sunburnt Textures&#8221; , of which all the works pictured on the new gallery were part.\u00a0 What I have done is all part of a progression along a path &#8211; &#8220;my journey&#8221; &#8211; I hate how that expression is bandied about by people with creative and artistic pretensions, \u00a0but there we are &#8211; I have used it, for just this once.\u00a0 You won&#8217;t read it from me again, in any of my statements.\u00a0\u00a0 At this point I am assuming the reader will click the link to the gallery and leave this page for a minute to return and read on&#8230;\u00a0 And when I do look at this body of work, the comments of several people at the opening night still ring in my ears:\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">one eminent craftsman in attendance said something like &#8220;..<em>and YOU did\u00a0ALL these works?&#8221;\u00a0 <\/em><\/span>which I realised with hindsight later, \u00a0you can take two ways &#8211; did he mean I hadn&#8217;t yet found my voice (another hackneyed phrase, sorry)\u00a0 perhaps, rather than as I heard it at the time, omg, this person is sooo talented and versatile !!!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 and\u00a0(2) <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">the second comment, from my\u00a0 thread supplier, <em>&#8220;I&#8217;d love to see you work so much larger &#8211; big &#8211; really big&#8230;&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0 While I am certain both of these people inflouenced me, I haven&#8217;t seen either of them again.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">So looking back, I can say:\u00a0\u00a0Nearly 30 years ago I was absorbed with textures of the earth&#8217;s surface and representing these in stitch.\u00a0 Then came man-made markings and patterns (Ancient Expressions), different environments (Colour Memories)\u00a0 and processes of natural forces\u00a0which caused the large shapes to appear, and\u00a0now I am particularly interested in the activity on surfaces plus the lapse of time\u00a0and possible\u00a0decay(Timetracks).\u00a0 Where is this to take me I wonder&#8230;.
