Good beach weather means I am down there many days – the sky\/sea mood is always changing and the textures on the beach vary a lot, too.\u00a0\u00a0 The depositional and erosional forces (wind and water)\u00a0constantly work to change the texture patterns in the sand, as well as shaping the overall and micro profiles of the beach.\u00a0\u00a0And there are masses of different tracks too – marks left by bicycles, motorbikes, trucks and the beach cleaner\u00a0machine<\/p>\n

The tracks left by the machinery used to clean the beach - now did someone perversely place a bag of rubbish right where the machine swerved a bit, or did the driver swerve to avoid a bag of trash left on the beach ;-p<\/p><\/div>\n

\u00a0plus footprints of people, dogs, and a variety of birds.\u00a0\u00a0I’m a creature of habit and so park at the same spot each time to enter the beach.\u00a0 The other day this little texture caught my eye for the first time -the diggings of\u00a0a little\u00a0creature that is very busy just now,\"\"<\/a> ie\u00a0perhaps\u00a0at a particular time in its life cycle, as I’ve\u00a0not noticed\u00a0it before.\u00a0 There were lots of them along damper part of the beach, appearing after the water had receded but clearly they’d be covered again with the incoming tide.\u00a0 When I got home I had to search my files to find this photo\u00a0:\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

– on the cover of a catalogue of a wonderful exhibition we saw in Paris a couple of years ago.\u00a0 The sand ridge\u00a0reminded me of\u00a0this ridge of leather stitches over strips of leather laid along a crack on the surface of a gourd.\u00a0 I posted previously, “A Totally Memorable Exhibition” oct 21st, 2007<\/em>\u00a0<\/span>on the impact this exhibition had on me, principally\u00a0the concept that people mend something only if it is important to them, but that mending therefore confers\u00a0a higher level of\u00a0value to the object.\u00a0 The catalogue is full of\u00a0well-used\u00a0objects that have been damaged\u00a0and interestingly repaired – hence the title of the show – Objets Blesses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
