Flow 14 posted below.\u00a0 Man made objects <em>tend to include straighter lines<\/em> than nature.\u00a0 In nature you can find rocks, cliffs, stones and pebbles, beaches, bodies of water\u00a0from motionless to\u00a0surging wildly; and\u00a0plants and all their parts, animal shapes and their markings, are just some of the sources for inspiration there.\u00a0 Man made objects range from the wooden, ceramic, textile, metal, glass, lather and more, with an infinite variety of patterning applied through anormous range of processes from digital computer aided \u00a0techniques and more traditional processes including but not limited to etching, \u00a0carving, painting, drawing, stitching, weaving, \u00a0printing knitting, embossing, dluing &#8211; I could go on.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><em>My point today is,<\/em><\/span> that in even in an environment you pass through every day there can be something really interesting at your feet, eye level or above if you just look.\u00a0 It also pays to have either a piece of paper and pencil at hand at all times, or better still a little digital camera to capture\u00a0what atchs your eye\u00a0&#8211; and\u00a0always take the highest resolution you can,\u00a0too.\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><em>It&#8217;s a matter of opening your eyes.\u00a0 <\/em><\/span>One of my friends here says Montevideoans don&#8217;t look up as they walk along and so don&#8217;t\u00a0appreciate the wonderful architectural details that are all around them in this city.\u00a0 Well, that&#8217;s partly because of the hazardous state of many foot paths,\u00a0\u00a0with missing or broken pavers,\u00a0 and sections\u00a0of paving\u00a0pushed up by tree roots &#8211; but the trees are quite marvellous ,and there&#8217;s the tradeoff.\u00a0 Other hazards include <em>dog poop<\/em> (not as bad as it used to be) <em>horse droppings<\/em> (there are fewer horse and cart people around, licences are being\u00a0retired)\u00a0or even heaps of what I used to think was not very well digested horse droppings- but it is the <em>blobs of used (greenish) mate<\/em>,\u00a0 the tea-like infusion Uruguayans drink all day long.\u00a0 There are set rituals associated with it,\u00a0but they don&#8217;t seem to include thoughtful disposal of the leafy dregs &#8211; on the other hand, perhaps it is thoughtful to drop them right in the footpath where the unwary could step&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>I was prompted to post by a blog I just visited, <a href=\"http:\/\/margaretsteinhauer.blogspot.com\">http:\/\/margaretsteinhauer.blogspot.com<\/a> where this artist includes some of her wonderful photography that she \u00a0uses to inspire her art quilt designs.\u00a0 What struck me looking at some of them just now was that I have similar pictures in my own files, especially\u00a0including a dendritic\u00a0 pattern left on sand by the receding tide.\u00a0 Maybe she and I walked the same beach on the same day at much the same hour \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 <!--more--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I often take photos of\u00a0 linear patterns in nature and man made objects that please me, and this one has probably been as influential as\u00a0any on the quilting treatment I came up with for Ebb&amp;
