and about 20 more.\u00a0 As I got into the shower this morning, the phrase &#8220;&#8230;Tears of the Moon&#8221; popped into my head, and I knew it followed something about the sun, but couldn&#8217;t remember the other part of the metaphor.\u00a0 So I had to look it up &#8211; and where else but Wikipedia, that excellent starting point or, in this case, <em>aide memoire ?\u00a0 <\/em><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">\u00a0I quickly found what I&#8217;d forgotten &#8211; that the Incas referred to gold as Sweat of the Sun and silver as Tears of The Moon,<\/span>\u00a0and remembered that was the title of an outstanding tv doco series I saw years ago (before I ever came to South America) and I will look for it now to watch again.\u00a0\u00a0<em>A<\/em>s you can see by this extract from the Wiki page, this section of text alone could take me off on a full day at the computer, following interesting links and having a fascinating time learning new things, but I really want to finish the quilting on this piece while I consider a possible companion piece, plus, I&#8217;m listening to a fascinating audio book &#8220;Fantasyland: How America Went Haywire, A 500-year History&#8221; by Kurt Andersen.<\/p>\n<p><em><b>&#8220;Mama Killa<\/b>\u00a0(<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Quechua languages\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Quechua_languages\">Quechua<\/a>\u00a0mama\u00a0mother,\u00a0killa\u00a0moon, &#8220;Mother Moon&#8221;,<sup id=\"cite_ref-1\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mama_Killa#cite_note-1\">[1]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0hispanicized spelling\u00a0Mama Quilla), in\u00a0<a title=\"Inca mythology\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Inca_mythology\">Inca mythology<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Inca religion\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Inca_religion\">religion<\/a>, was the third power and\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Lunar deity\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lunar_deity\">goddess of the moon<\/a>. She was the sister and wife of\u00a0<a title=\"Inti\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Inti\">Inti<\/a>, daughter of\u00a0<a title=\"Viracocha\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Viracocha\">Viracocha<\/a>\u00a0and mother of\u00a0<a title=\"Manco C\u00e1pac\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Manco_C%C3%A1pac\">Manco C\u00e1pac<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a title=\"Mama Ocllo\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mama_Ocllo\">Mama Uqllu<\/a>\u00a0(Mama Ocllo), mythical founders of the\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Inca\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Inca\">Inca<\/a>\u00a0empire and culture. She was the goddess of marriage and the menstrual cycle, and considered a defender of women. She was also important for the Inca\u00a0<a title=\"Calendar\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Calendar\">calendar<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Myths surrounding Mama Killa include that she cried tears of silver and that\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Lunar eclipses\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lunar_eclipses\">lunar eclipses<\/a>\u00a0were caused when she was being attacked by an animal.
