For some years\u00a0\u00a0I’ve had on my pin board\u00a0a little cutting\u00a0of a full and detail view of a\u00a0tapestry weaving by Scottish textile artist Sara Brennan<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0 The image was for an ad in a magazine for a solo show at The Scottish Gallery Edinburgh, 2006.<\/p>\n

Lines are important to me, as in ‘lines=seams’.\u00a0 The importance of line in\u00a0Sara Brennan’s\u00a0landscape inspired work is\u00a0because of\u00a0\u00a0“the meetings (that) occur around a horizon”\u00a0\u00a0 Who knows why didn’t I research her work when I first found this picture, but I never took the little pic down, because it felt important for me to leave it there.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0This morning, while\u00a0doing something totally different I suddenly realized\u00a0if I fused some sheer fabric over a seam it could have a slightly similar effect, with a lot of potential – and so I put together this little\u00a0aide memoire <\/em>of\u00a0a sewn seam with sheer overlay,\u00a0with the snippet from the\u00a0pin board on the\u00a0cream part of the photo.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/em>How\u00a0interesting that it has taken me all this time of occasionally glancing\u00a0at that little pic to finally have a little light bulb\u00a0switch on!.<\/p>\n

I don’t know the name of the piece above, or the one\u00a0below.\u00a0 When\u00a0searching around for writing on her work I found very little, really, which is a bit disappointing.\u00a0 But at least you can see\u00a0more images of this beautiful, evocative work\u00a0here<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
