{"id":243,"date":"2006-12-05T13:21:00","date_gmt":"2006-12-05T18:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alison.gloderworks.net\/weblog\/?p=243"},"modified":"2006-12-05T13:21:00","modified_gmt":"2006-12-05T18:21:00","slug":"sold-at-houston","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alisonschwabe.com\/weblog\/?p=243","title":{"rendered":"Sold at Houston"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/photos1.blogger.com\/x\/blogger2\/3180\/1394\/1600\/195561\/Ebb%20and%20Flow%209.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"CLEAR: both; FLOAT: left\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/photos1.blogger.com\/x\/blogger2\/3180\/1394\/320\/948924\/Ebb%20and%20Flow%209.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is a favourite quilt, &#8220;Ebb and Flow 9: Jungle&#8221;, and was included in the Creative Force Exhibition by SAQA members at the annual quilt show in Houston last month.<\/p>\n<p>As with any &#8220;favourite&#8221; quilt, I always have a slight twinge at seeing them go to new homes, but also feel greater delight that my work has appealed to someone sufficiently to part with some serious money for it. I wish the new owner and family long years of enjoyment of this piece in their home.<\/p>\n<p>Much of my work over the past few years has been my interpretation of how I see the parentage of the traditional quilt over the contemporary or &#8216;art quilts&#8217;. I this context I see much of my work as contemporary scrap quilts which re-work some of the traditional simple patterns and shapes. It might be difficult to understand, but the Chinese Coins pattern was on my mind doing this and another in the &#8220;Ebb and Flow&#8221; series.
