The annual\u00a0Studio Art Quilt Associates’\u00a0Benefit Auction for 2013<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span> kicks off in a few hours’ time, at 2-00pm, Eastern USA, currently 12 hours ahead of Australian EST<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Over the next three weeks, and at the International Quilt Festival Houston in late\u00a0October, the 420+ \u00a012″\/20cm square quilts made and donated by Studio Art Quilt Associates\u00a0 members from many countries around the world will be auctioned to raise funds to help cover SAQA’s art quilt touring exhibition programme.<\/p>\n

Later today bidding will open on\u00a0the first group of pages 1a and 1b.\u00a0 They include several I would love to own, and include\u00a0something for every taste.\u00a0 “Sandlines”<\/span><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0below, goes up for sale today<\/span><\/em> and <\/span><\/span>I have my fingers\u00a0X it might\u00a0sell in the first part of the\u00a0week.\u00a0 On august 5th I wrote a bit about it, and my workroom\/studio, in\u00a0The SAQA-Oceania Bloghop<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

All pieces on those two pages will be $750 starting today, Monday, Sept. 9th at 2.00\u00a0pm Eastern until 1-59\u00a0pm Eastern on Tuesday, Sept. 10th, at\u00a0which time unsold quilts\u00a0on that page will be re-priced to $550, the price going down each day until the end of the week.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Group b auction begins 2-00pm Eastern next Monday sept.16th.\u00a0 At\u00a0http:\/\/www.saqa.com\/saqa-u.php?ID=2367<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0 you can find more information about how the auction works, the online bidding form (not live until 2-00pm US\u00a0 Eastern later today), pages with\u00a0images of all 421\u00a0pieces\u00a0by this year’s\u00a0contributing artists, and if you click through those images you can access technical details of their work, and click through their names to go to their\u00a0websites if they have one.<\/p>\n
