{"id":1337,"date":"2011-11-23T15:10:04","date_gmt":"2011-11-23T20:10:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.alisonschwabe.com\/weblog\/?p=1337"},"modified":"2011-11-23T15:10:04","modified_gmt":"2011-11-23T20:10:04","slug":"its-all-about-line-shape-and-texture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alisonschwabe.com\/weblog\/?p=1337","title":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s All About Line, Shape and Texture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another glorious day here in Montevideo,\u00a0\u00a0and it began\u00a0as it often does with an early morning\u00a0walk along the beach.\u00a0 These days the sun is up pretty early and if I get there by about 6am or 6-30, the textures on the beach due to the erosion action of the tides are highlighted with shadows that\u00a0 fade and diminish as the sun rises higher in the sky.\u00a0 Also, an early start means other things in the day don&#8217;t interrupt me or completely divert me.\u00a0\u00a0 The music from <em>Dirty Dancing, The Full Monty, Manu Chau,\u00a0 Hotel California\u00a0or Beethoven&#8217;s Sonatas\u00a0among other firm favourites,\u00a0 <\/em>plus any marching music are wonderful to walk along with, unless I am engrossed in my current recorded book.\u00a0 I generally have my camera.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As you saw in recent posts, some of the small works have distinctly land texture themes, as does most of my larger quilt work.\u00a0 It&#8217;s one of my lifelong preoccupations. \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Today, and\u00a0this is probably\u00a0an age thing,\u00a0 I see landscape as a metaphor for Life.\u00a0 In simple terms, throughout the natural world\u00a0there is an endless\u00a0cycle of young, mature and aging\u00a0landscapes, whatever the scale, from vast deserts, lofty mountain ranges to coastlines and beach profiles.\u00a0\u00a0For over 30 years this fascination with the physical landscape has been at the core of my creative inspiration.\u00a0 I&#8217;m still not sure where the myriad of tiny jellyfish I\u00a0found on the beach this morning fit into this, but with a better camera tomorrow I will try to capture some of these amazing little 1cm &#8211; 2cm sized\u00a0blobs\u00a0like small wet blisters all along\u00a0the water&#8217;s edge.
