I have been visiting\u00a0some of my distant family in the past couple of months, and when I returned from the USA, our daughter and one grandson were down here for a couple of weeks.\u00a0 This pic is from the travels we did in the north of the country while they were here. \u00a0<\/p>\n

In Paysandu as we were leaving town to head west over\u00a0to Artigas, we noticed this bbq\u00a0array aka a\u00a0\u00a0‘parilla’\u00a0on the street outside a social club – lunch for a large number of people, some event maybe?\u00a0Yes, it turned out a group of students were visiting from Montevideo – the guys told me there were 15 of them;\u00a0but there are enough chickens cooking here for\u00a0at least\u00a04\u00a0times that number,\u00a0 so\u00a0perhaps a lot of locals were involved in the event.\u00a0 Well, you may be thinking there’s nothing remarkable about that, surely.\u00a0BUT get a load of the gloves on the parillero’s hands<\/span><\/em> –\u00a0without the aid of more conventional bbq tools, \u00a0he used gloved hands to turn and reposition the cooking bird halves …. I really hope those gloves are washed and sparkling white every time he cooks!\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Well, anyway\u00a0these were\u00a0the ‘textile note’\u00a0 in a comment on local colour.<\/p>\n
