This is not the Nut at Stanley, Tasmania, nor is it Capetown, South Africa – it is a cloud formation observed from\u00a0 my usual beach here in\u00a0Montevideo last week\u00a0as I arrived on the beach just before sunrise .\u00a0\u00a0That may sound impressive, but here in the southern hemisphere a third\u00a0of the year’s gone already! and we’re well on the way to the winter solstice, 21\/6,\u00a0and so the days are getting shorter.\u00a0 Frankly it is much easier to be on the beach to see the sun rise at 6-45\u00a0am\u00a0than at 5am in the middle of the summer!\u00a0 Today at mahjong\u00a0a friend I often meet when walking there commented she hadn’t seen me on the beach in a while – that is partly because she has been going later! and partly because since our car’s been in the shop a few day this week I have been walking closer to home – it’s a good step just\u00a0to get there from our place.\u00a0 So, I thought I’d show you pics from about 10\u00a0days ago,\u00a0\u00a0taken just before\u00a07am with hardly a soul there…..\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

About\u00a0half an hour after sun-up, on my way back along the beach\u00a0the\u00a0 plovers\u00a0were\u00a0making a racket at the water’s edge.\u00a0 I do love them.\u00a0 They are so noisy,\u00a0strident and insistent, quite bossy.<\/p>\n

Inspiring – and yes, I am doing something about it; there is a new piece in reds and oranges\u00a0now under way, non pictorial in\u00a0just those colours.\u00a0 It’s very red, and I’m off upstairs to work more on it right now.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
