WORKSHOPS by ALISON SCHWABE
1. I teach any of the techniques and process involved in my own

2. Students
use very simple traditional patterns or build their own designs.
3. In shorter
workshops, learning is mostly through sample making, but in longer
workshops students work on and often finish individual projects.
4. Further workshops in preparation.
5. Email
for full class
description and requirements list.

SLIDE
LECTURES by ALISON SCHWABE
TRAVELS WITH A NEEDLE A survey of my own quiltmaking and
how it has become part of a body of creative needlework which extends
over 30 years.
EVERYTHING
OLD IS NEW AGAIN A look at the historic origins of some of the
more important quiltmaking styles, and links the work of contemporary
non-traditional quiltmakers to these origins. (slides of historic
quilts are included with reference to well known Australian and
overseas quiltmakers)
QUILTING
WITH AN ATTITUDE A survey of new developments in hand and machine
quilting. This could be a good introduction for a guild holding
the workshop with this title, especially the one day version.
IRREGULAR
SHAPED QUILTS Breaking out of the rectilinear traditional shapes
can bring exciting possibilities, but present some problems too
which need to be considered during construction. This lecture would
be a good introduction to the topic for a guild considering holding
this workshop.
QUILT
NATIONAL Slides of the latest of these major biennial shows
are offered with commentary linking developments of techniques and
trends to earlier Quilt Nationals and to traditional quiltmaking
styles.
